Gemstone Beaded Bracelets Care Information

Take it off when needed: While gemstone bracelets are relatively durable, it's a good idea to remove them when engaging in activities that could put excessive strain on the bracelet, such as showering, swimming, heavy lifting or vigorous physical activities. Also, remove the bracelet before swimming, bathing, or using harsh chemicals.

Avoid Contact with Chemicals: Chemicals in beauty products, perfumes, and household cleaners can potentially damage the gemstones and weaken the elastic.

Cleaning: To clean your gemstone bracelet, wipe it gently with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the gemstones or the elastic.

Re-stringing: Over time, the elastic thread may become worn or stretched, increasing the risk of breakage. If you notice the elastic becoming loose, it's a good idea to have the bracelet re-strung by a professional jeweler or replace the elastic if you're comfortable doing it yourself. It is relatively easy to restring your bracelet yourself, and there are many instructional videos on the internet. We at Rare Earth Gallery can restring your bracelet for a nominal charge.  Charges are based on bracelet type ranging from $5-$10 per bracelet.

Regular Inspections: Check the bracelet periodically for any signs of wear, such as fraying elastic (The elastic will feel loose, or have “stringy” looking pieces) or loose stones. Catching these issues early can help prevent more significant problems.

Mindful Handling: Be gentle when putting on and taking off your bracelet. Avoid pulling or tugging at the gemstones, as this can stress the elastic and potentially lead to breakage.

Gemstone-Specific Care: Different gemstones have varying levels of hardness and sensitivity. Some stones may require extra care, while others are more durable. Research the specific care requirements for the gemstones in your bracelet to ensure you're treating them properly.

This is a GENERAL chart for GEMSTONE care. This chart is based solely on the stone and its properties, and may not apply to all beaded bracelets and their fragility. It is advised to follow the care instructions above, while also keeping this chart in mind.
