Druze | Information, Properties, Uses

Druze is the name for a unique formation of a mass microcrystalline on the surface of a  crystal or mineral. There are many varieties of druze, because there are many types of minerals. Druze can form on almost any mineral! Quartz for example is one of the most common druze types, making up over 95% of Druze, because of the high amount of silica throughout the world. Druze is also commonly found on Azurite, Chrysocolla, Garnet, Malachite, Amethyst and many other minerals!

The geological process that forms Druze occurs when water brings minerals onto a rock's surface, the water evaporates, cooling occurs and the dissolved minerals are left behind to form new tiny crystals on the surface. The color of the druze depends on the mineral content of the water! Druze can form in almost every color from pink to blue and green or even black.

The most common place that Druze forms is as cavity linings in geodes. Also known as “nature's glitter” these microscopic crystal points can look like someone threw glitter on the top of the mineral! Before the 1990s Druze was barely recognized outside of mineralogy. Once the 90s came around and the surge of trendy, flashy jewelry and accessories became popular, so did Druze!

Energetic Druzy has many nicknames, one of which is “Stone of Stardust”, resembling the sparkling characteristics of the aggregate. Druzies are said to open blocked energy and assist its owner in finding his or her own inner light. The energetic qualities of a Druze also depends on what stone is formed on! For example, if it's a Quartz Druze it mimics the energetic qualities of Quartz: Cleansing, amplifying and charging energies.
